My most Handsome Comic Book Page ;)

Well, the Genoshe Warrior is not done being colored, and I'm kind of too far in to it to give a in progress by itself, so I figure I'll just put them in progress with the colors together, but for today, here is the most handsome page in all of comics, if you get the self serving joke, bear in mind it's just a joke. Thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side!

QuickStryke Page 2 in progress

In page one we saw QuickStryke make it to the city from the desert where he meets up with the QuickBots. In page two we see QuickStryke use his other ability, multiplying himself at the snap of a finger (latterly). Once the numbers are more even we see our hero leap into action. I was actualy able to block this in very quickly, but on the last two panels found myself having to do a lot of fixing. I'm going to tighten up the figures just a bit more and finish of the details, though this page is not as background intensive as the last, it will still have them in the first in last panels. Thanks for tuning in, and catch you on the flip side.

Page One Done, Page 2 on the way.

I decided it was a good time to take a break from page 2 (in progress) and scan page one. Here it is, I feel that these pages will truly be my strongest yet. I would like to thank 2 people for pointing things out that helped me make page one better. First my gf Melissa Genoshe helped me make the 4th panel better by advising I not do what I was originally going to. The to and from effect aided by the vanishing points in similar panel areas was my idea, but she totally helped. Second, my buddy Alfredo Contreras pointed out that in panel 6, where I was just going to have a lineup of QuickBots did not establish that QuickStryke was stopping right in front of them. This is important since the next page is gonna start the QuickStryke vs QuickBots battle. I drew 2 thumbnails, we agreed which one worked more and how that particular one could be improved. So note all artists: Don't be antisocial, it helps to have extra eyes, an models to. Thanks for tuning in, and catch you on the flip side.

Work in Progress

Hello, I guess this still counts as 2 blogg posts in one day, by about half an hour, anyways, this is the QuickStryke page in progress. Hope you like. Thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Road to Comic Con!!!!

Well, from comic cons past, and my time at Top Cow, I learned I need to be in the art side, not a "suit" as the guys in the pit call those that are not artists, and that in the art side, I want to be a penciler, not colorist, and definitely not an inker (I am just not that good at inking). So this year I won't do a full on inked and colored comic to present, but I will present between 4 to 6 pages of storytelling. For this I'm going to use (from left to right) QuickStryke, a super hero teen with super speed and the ability to multiply, in short he has a unique way to bend time and space. Next is a big brute Britt, Named Jeeves. Jeeves is the right hand man to QuickStyrke's arch enemy. He is the opposite to QuickStyrke in every way, he's big, he's just one, and he's slow, in more ways than one. Next up is the QuickBot, don't let the name fool you, this is no friend to our hero QuickStryke, this is one of many identical robots made by QuickStyrke's arch enemy. The QuickBots posses the two key attributes to fight a hero that is super fast and can multiply, they too are fast and in nearly endless supply. Last but not least is QuickStryke's arch enemy, a mad scientist (not yet named). This came to be the best natural arch enemy for QuickStryke because I believe the best person to challenge QuickStryke is someone that is smart enough to know how to fight a hero that can get anywhere any time, at multiple places at a time. Thanks for tuning in, catch you on the flip side.

Last Day at Old Job

I gave my 2 weeks notice, but next week there is no class due to the holiday. So it appears to be that today will be my last class with a certain great bunch of kids, I will miss them, and I hope they carry on with the stuff I have taught them. So they are getting some limited edition variant prints of QuickStryke (ok, to be honest, i didn't like my background colors and will be redoing them). Hopefully my ink will last and I wont have to make it one print per household, lol, they may not even want it. Anyways, here it is, what they will be getting. Hope you like it, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

A work in progress

So here is the QuickStryke in progress, I am trying this out for kicks, coloring non inked pencils. This is only my flats, I like to use a slightly darker mid tone of the color I will be using through out the picture. I will color it the way I usually do (super hero mainstream), and I may try a more "organic/painterly" approach. Thanks for tuning in, catch you on the flip side :)

What could have been?

This is a drawing I made based off a rough sketch for a cover for a character that was going to be named bullet, this was gonna be a team up thing between me and 2 friends and their characters (I know this sounds like the same nerdy thinks you hear from the many that try, but we actauly had some plans). Anyways, my rough plot outline was aproved but when the writer wrote the script, it was very different then what I had in mind and it suffered a lot some time line issues. The end of the stroy is he wouldnt rewrite and my script wouldnt be aproved. So I retain the right to use this character that is super fast and can multiply, and I renaimed him QuickStryke since Bullet was their idea, if I ever do this for reals I may work that in the story "your name should be bullet, cuz your as fast as one" "no, thats just stupid"... not that the name is dumb (I liked it and hoped to have kept it), just a funny reference to the origin in behind the scences of the character.
