Little Mermaid
Here is my take on Disney's Little Mermaid. Last weekend I went to the Egyptian Theater with my girl friend where we saw a screening of the movie fallowed by a panel with Glen Kean (not sure I'm spelling his name correctly, sorry if its wrong). He has worked at Disney for so long, and even helped make Tangled the great animation it was by showing some 2D tips to the 3D animators. I hope to go to more events like this in the future as they obviously inspire me to draw. Thanks for tuning and catch you on the flip side.

Christmas Card Mayham!!!!
Ive been busy getting my Christmas cards done. A few several trips to Staples for the prints. Th first time I got lucky they messed up the color because I noticed I had a typo, but then thy printed the interior to big and it got cut off when I cut out the extra. They where nice though and because all in all I had to go back 3 times, I got my prints for free, and made notes for future prints to tell them to be sure to fallow certain steps. I used a bone folder to get nice folds and my mat cutter doubled as an excelent paper cutter still using the original blade. Ive been gathering addresses of family and friends and will be sending them out soon. Did you know stamps are now 44 cents? Nuts right? Any how, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Christmas Card Up Date
Here is the inked version of my Christmas Card. Ive decided to go with digital colors as I am short on time and traditional colors take a lot more time to pull off. I think I mentioned this before but the names listed are of family and friends young kiddos. Ill be posting colored Santa tomorrow I hope, but no promises. Thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Last Day at Old Job
I gave my 2 weeks notice, but next week there is no class due to the holiday. So it appears to be that today will be my last class with a certain great bunch of kids, I will miss them, and I hope they carry on with the stuff I have taught them. So they are getting some limited edition variant prints of QuickStryke (ok, to be honest, i didn't like my background colors and will be redoing them). Hopefully my ink will last and I wont have to make it one print per household, lol, they may not even want it. Anyways, here it is, what they will be getting. Hope you like it, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Christmas Card Preview
So Ive wrapped up warming up, got in my groove, and here is a preview at my 2010 Christmas card, the names on the list are of family kids or friends kids. Santa is tired from checking the list and we got him here sleeping, not sure if I want to do inks and digital colors or if I want to do this as one of my traditional medium art pieces. Thanks for tuning in, and catch you on the flip side.
I was gonna do 2 in one day!
I was gonna put this guy up earlier, to post up 2 in one day, but from drawing my Christmas card (ill be posting that as well) I got side tracked and here it is, at about 2am my time. I will do more of these on the spot made up characters, but for now its Christmas card painting and backgrounds. This guy is a magic powered super hero, his name is Henry Porter (see what I did there?), and he doesn't need a wand. Its late so I am off to bed, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Getting more in tune with myself
I mentioned in my last post that I'm warming up, this is to work out some kinks in my work that tend to happen when I do the great evil that is not draw for too long. Usually I post later on in the day, but since I am not sure if I will be able to I am doing it now. I tend to draw good guys, so here is a bad chick, I named her GhostFire, her power you ask, I don't know, something to do with her white fire being all ghost powered? I hope you like it, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

Ninja-Gunslinger
Ok, here is a Pop inspired costume (I was looking at a people magazine). Ive been so busy looking for a new job I have not been drawing much, and so these are a few pin ups I worked on as a warm ups. This pop star turns into a Ninja-Gunslinger with the addition of a blade and a gun, its fun but not quite my A game, just working out those bad habits in my warm ups. There is one more I will probably be posting tomorrow, then on to environments, and then through peeps in and we will get some shots. Ill be heading back to Top Cow once I start my new job and can afford the gas, and some new Bristol board as well. Thanks for tuning in, catch you on the flip side.

Tangeld
So once again I got see the Disney animated move Tangled, its a great movie and I recommend it to all. True its another princess movie, but its filled with action, adventure, and lots of humor. Well, fallowing my water color project, I wanted to do some more traditional medium stuff. I used conte on a browned surface with a lot of tooth, this was a quick sketch and I really enjoyed it. I did do a quick youtube search to make sure I was fairly close to the costume, I was just missing the stripes on the poofy shoulder things and the lace up the torso. I hope you all like it as well, thanks for tuning in and catch you on the flip side.

I hope she likes it.
well, this is only a few weeks behind the deadline (i.e. my gf's birthday). I think she will like it, all I need is a frame and its all set. I wanted to do something nice for her and I also wanted to work with a traditional medium. So I tackled 2 birds with one stone, but my moms birthday came up and she saw this, well looks like I'm going to be painting another flower, I just don't know if I should do water color again or acrylic. Thanks for tuning in, catch you on the flip side.

The mean team
This is a sketch for a possible painting (Ive been missing working in color on traditional mediums, so Im taking a bit of time to work with all my paints :) ). It features the tough guys of tmnt, x-men, and cyber-force, you know Raphael Wolverine and Ripclaw. Weather or not this gets painted depends on time. Im caught up on my freelance work, but behind on personal work (great thing of being an aritst, people love art for presents, almost done with gf's 2 week late present, then on to moms. good thing they are both fans of my work). Thanks for tunning in, catch you on the flip side.

A work in progress
So here is the QuickStryke in progress, I am trying this out for kicks, coloring non inked pencils. This is only my flats, I like to use a slightly darker mid tone of the color I will be using through out the picture. I will color it the way I usually do (super hero mainstream), and I may try a more "organic/painterly" approach. Thanks for tuning in, catch you on the flip side :)

This is a job I did for a local High School
This is the Banning High Pilot as a DJ/PJ (podcast jockey). This was work done for Banning High and can be seen on their website, they were even kind enough to credit me.
You can see it here.
What could have been?
This is a drawing I made based off a rough sketch for a cover for a character that was going to be named bullet, this was gonna be a team up thing between me and 2 friends and their characters (I know this sounds like the same nerdy thinks you hear from the many that try, but we actauly had some plans). Anyways, my rough plot outline was aproved but when the writer wrote the script, it was very different then what I had in mind and it suffered a lot some time line issues. The end of the stroy is he wouldnt rewrite and my script wouldnt be aproved. So I retain the right to use this character that is super fast and can multiply, and I renaimed him QuickStryke since Bullet was their idea, if I ever do this for reals I may work that in the story "your name should be bullet, cuz your as fast as one" "no, thats just stupid"... not that the name is dumb (I liked it and hoped to have kept it), just a funny reference to the origin in behind the scences of the character.

This little artist just got published.... for writing!!!!
So Top Cow was kind enough to let me write a peace of added content for tracker, a CSI meets Werewolfs storyline. Even though my name has been in the Top Cow books for a few months now, having my name not under intern on having a page on what I conrtibuted is pretty cool. Ill be posting some stuff im doing to try and get in as an artist. So even though my posts arent always that regular I hope that you find it worth checking in to see whats up. Thanks for tunning in, see you on the flip side.

Top Cow Mooturns!!!
Well here it is, my long time wanted to draw sketch of Top Cows speed demond, Velocity. In my drawing i have her tryin on a pair of new shoes. She is getting her own story drawn soon (well coming out, its already been in the works for a bit) at Top Cow by the talented Kenneth Rocafort. I did my enitial sketch using a 4h pencil (thats right, the kind that needs a sharpner), and cleand it up with some microns (5 and 1, no quil or brush this is not fancy paper). Once I had the clean line art i nocked out some pencil with an erassor and toned both figure and bust with a set of prisma color cool grey markers. Once the image was toned I use prismacolor color pencils to color in velocity. Ill be sure next time to double check her costume as instead of a lightning bolt I did an arrow, woops!!! Thanks for tuning in, see you on the flip side.

So, I nabbed one of the sketchbooks from a 2006 con, and I drew on it myself. Once day this is something I will do at a con for a fan, and its all starting to happen, now all i got to do is spend endless hours getting better, honing my skills, and showing what i got, and it will start with persceptive. Thanks for tunning in, catch you on the flip side.

Not a Sketch, but a preporation for many drawings to come
this is but part of a scan of a rahter large grid i have prepared to use in aid of many drawings to come. obviosly a 2 point perspective, this grid was done on a 23 by 35 inch paper. I have a few more key scans (parts of the grid i feel will be very helpfull for specific shots). So theres no fun sketch today, but a low res (sorry, do this work on your own) to show the behind the scenes of making an enviornment. Thanks for tuning, see you on the flip side.

Busy Busy but still Posting
So, heres some more Top Cow love,a sketch of Harper from Madame Mirage (a strong recomandation from yours truly) Amazing art work by Kenneth Rocafort, with a great story by Paul Dini. I think Harper is the hotter of the two, but if you know me you know my gf is a cute perky blonde. Live long and prosper, and as of the Bullet stuff, and working with the MindWave guys is looking bleek, but who knows what the future holds (whele Bullet was supposed to but yeah) Thanks for checking in and see you on the flip side.

ZIP ZAP ZOOOOOM!!!!!
Here is a sneak peak at bullet, a character im working on with Dave Wheeler and Samir Barret (MindWave Studios... or productions, i dont remember). Anyways, this character will make a debut in a teaser... issue zero or first look (im not sure how were doing it). We are currently doing the whole clashing creative heads, not agreaing with certain character traits, and well u get it. I hope we can resolve these issues soon so I can have a script to work from. Thanks for checking out my blog and see you'round.

A recent comission I did
Well, heres something Ive never done before. For this Illustratoin I did my orignal sketch (11x13 as per request) on a peice of copy paper, for the final product I used my lightbox to cleanly transfer it over so that there is nothing but ink on the page. This was inked only using a brush. There are a few lines where my....intent? was not matched by skill, but I do feel I am improving little by little. Thanks for tuning in.

Last week I had an interview with top shelf comics for an internship, hope that goes well, but since then ive been hitting the sketch book pretty hard, and finaly got around to finishing the windboarders character spread. So heres the windboarders, and ill be posting up some of my sketch pages later on. ill try for a post a day again, but no promises to my 2 only fallowers..... i wonder if anyone looks at this?
